Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the pulse pressure of the pertinent relay valve in the rear car from being generated when it is suddenly braked by providing a pressure reduction valve in the communication channel between the front and rear air tank of a connecting car and reducing the pressure of the air pump for the relay valve, as compared with the maximum brake signal pressure to the relay valve of the rear car.
CONSTITUTION: When air brakes are applied to a connecting car consisting of a tractor I and trailers II and III, the front wheel brake chambers 13 and 14 are connected to the inlet and outlet 8 of a brake valve 1 which is connected to air pumps 6 and 7. The rear wheel spring brake mechanism brake chambers 28 and 29 are connected to an inlet and outlet 15 through a relay valve 18 and to the relay valve 37 of the trailer II through a relay valve 21. The relay valve 37 connects an air pump 39 to a supply port 46 and this air pump 39 is connected to the said air pump 7 through a pressure reduction valve 41. The relay valve 37 is connected to the relay valve 57 of the trailer III and an air pump 59 is connected to a supply port 66. This air pump 59 is connected to the air pump 39 through a pressure reduction valve 61.
