CONSTITUTION: Unpurified na container 1 and purified Na container 2 are placed at both sides of β-Al2O3 partition wall 3, and by applying a DC voltage to anode 5 and cathode 6 in containers 1, 2 from power source 4, pure Na is passed through wall 3 from the anode side to the cathode side to purify unpurified Na. At this time, the upper wall of container 1 is set at a position higher than that of container 2 and unpurified Na injecting pipe 10 is attached to the upper wall of container 1 with insulating member 9 in-between. Empty duct 7 for unpurified Na is connected to pipe 10 through on-off valve 11. Valve 11 is controlled with control circuit 12 which ddtects an electric current flowing between anode 5 and cathode 6 and opens or closes valve 11. When the surface of Na in container 1 lowers and separates from anode 5, the current is interrupted, valve 11 is opened with circuit 12 to supply unpurified Na from pipe 7, and purification is continued.
