Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the mounting operation of a resilient annular member by providing the annular member inside and on an annular groove and hammering a wedge member into the annular member.
CONSTITUTION: The base part 9 of the resilient annular member 8 is inserted into the annular groove 11 having a wide inside hole and a narrow upper opening and formed along the outer peripheral surface 10 of an idler body 3. A ring-shaped wedge member 13 of hard plastics is hammered into a slit or peripheral groove 12 formed from the central part of the outer surface of the annular member 8 toward the base part 9 so as to fix the annular member 8 around the idler body 3. The annular member 8 and wedge member 13 have respectively at least one separation part. The insertion of the annular member 8 into the groove 11 and the hammering of the wedge member 13 into the slit or peripheral groove 12 are carried out continuously from one end of the separation part to the other end while rotating the idler 1. Thus, the mounting of the annular member 8 into the groove 11 can be carried out wihtout unwinding a track chain 4 from the idler 1.
