Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of bulge, and to improve the yield, by adjusting the gaps of upper and lower rolls at both ends of the roll axis so as to possess a difference corresponding to the difference in breadth of the thick plate between its middle and edge, and by applying the rolling work so as to differently reduce thickness of only both edges of the rolled material.
CONSTITUTION: The material 10 is rolled in thd arrowed direction for regulating the shape; hereby, the edge coners 1, 2, 3, 4, bulge. Next, the broadside rolling is applied in the arrowed direction for obtaining the specified rolled breadth; hereby, the edges bulge so as to form the material 10 into a barrel shape. Next, the upper rolling roll 11 is axially inclined by the angular difference so as to be corresponding to the amount of the bulge of the material 10; this upper rolling roll 11 together with the lower rolling roll 12 are driven to perform the broadside rolling work for differently reducing thickness of the broadside edges of the material 10; hereby, the square 1265 is reformed to 1'2'65 and the square 4378 is reformed to 4'3'78, and the barrel shape is dissolved. Hereafter, by applying the finish rolling work to obtain the specified plate thickness, the thick plate of square shape 1'2'3'4' without barrel type shape defect can be manufactured.
