Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the cupping in a wire material by measuring continuously the electric potential difference between two points in the wire material which is transferred in one direction and is applied by constant electric current. CONSTITUTION:The constant electric current is applied to the wire material (a) which is transfered in the arrow direction by making the two apart contact points 2, 3, connected to the constant current electric power source 1 and contact the wire material. The another contact points 5, 6 is made contact with the wire material (a) transfered between the points 2 and 3, to which the voltmeter 4 is connected. And the electric potential difference between the points 5 and 6 is measured continuously by the voltmeter 4. If there are cuppings in the wire material (a), the electric resistance between points 5 and 6 is increased owing to the cavity and so the electric potential difference is increased. Then, the cupping can be detected. By using the contact points of this detecting method as a die of drawing the wire material, the cuppings are detected at the same time of the drawing process.
