Abstract
PURPOSE: There is provided the titled compsn. which can form a uniform coating film on an electrically conductive material to be coated such as Al, by a method wherein a specified emulsifying agent is added to a mixture of (meth)acrylic acid and other vinyl monomer, the mixt. is subjected to an emulsion polymn., and the polymn. mixture is neutralized with ammonia or an amine to solubilize it.
CONSTITUTION: Not more than 0.3pts.wt. emulsifying agent of formula I [wherein R is alkyl; Q is -O- or a group of formula II; n is a positive integer; A is Na+, K+, NH4 +, N+H(CH2CH2OH)2] is added to 100pts.wt. monomer mixture consisting of 5W10pts.wt. acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid and 95W90pts.wt. other vinyl monomer. The mixture is subjected to an emulsion polymn. The polymn. mixture is neutralized with ammonia or an amine to solubilize it. If desired, a melamine derivative may be further added. By neutralizing the polymn. mixt. to solubilize it, a uniform coating film can be formed on a material to be coated such as Al.
