Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain titled polymer useful as a rubber antioxidant, by carrying out a reaction under a specific temperature condition, to condense a specific arylamine with a ketone in the presence of an acid catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Titled polymer is obtained by condensing (a) an arylamine of the formula, wherein R is H, 1W5C alkyl or 1W5C alkoxy, such as aniline with (b) at least one ketone selected from the group consisting of acetone, diacetone alcohol and mesityl oxide, at a temperature in the range 125W160°C, pref., 130W150°C, in the presence of an acid catalyst, and then carrying the aging reaction at a temperature in the range of 70W110°C, pref., 80W100°C.
