Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the battery capacity larger and the flatness of the voltage to be maintainable by raising the amalgamated mass of aluminium in the negative electrode of a battery with an organic electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Metal oxides, metal halides and metal sulfides as an active material in a positive electrode, amalgamated-aluminium powder as an active material in a negative electrode, and a solution of lithium perchlorate etc. dissolved in an organic solvent as an electrolyte are used in forming a battery. An amalgamated-aluminium powder in such a battery contains over 10% of amalgamated aluminium to whole aluminium by weight. This amalgamated-aluminium powder is prepared, for example, by soaking and mixing aluminium powder in acetonitrile where mercuric chloride is dissolved, before washing that in a non-aqueous-organic solution such as propylene carbonate.
