Abstract

PURPOSE: To purify the oil pollution in a sea area or place polluted with petroleum hydrocarbons, by using a pharmaceurical containing a microorganism of the genus Pseudomonas capable of exhibiting the growth acceleration on addition of the petroleum hydrocarbons to the microorganism cultivated in a nutrient culture medium.
CONSTITUTION: A strain, e.g. FRI-No. 5490 or FRI-No. 5491, belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, and capable of exhibiting the growth acceleration on addition of petroleum hydrocarbons to the strain cultivated in a nutrient culture medium is used as an active constituent. The resultant pharmaceutrical directly or filled in a container under the atmosphere of an inert gas with crude oil and/or a nutrient source is administered to a sea area or place polluted with the petroleum hydrocarbons.
