Abstract

PURPOSE:To execute a large number of copies at high speed, and to prevent increase of accidents, by dividing the whole process into the first copying section and the second arranging section, detecting jam separately in the 2 sections, suspending copying operation in the case of jam occurring in the first section, and suspending the whole operation in jamming in the second section. CONSTITUTION:The preceding step ranging from paper feed to image transfer and the subsequent step ranging from copy discharge to sorting and storing on trays use conveyors driven with dependent motors M1, M4, respectively. Jam check pulses T1-T6, T5', T6' produced from counter CNT1, and detection signals J1-J4, JT, JS produced from sensors arranged on necessary points are checked for jam in the 2 steps along the conveing routes. Jam can be discriminated from completion of reception of the sheets in the receiver. When jam occurs in the first step, FF1 is reset by output of one of gates G5-G7 to stop only motor M1, and observation is kept on from that time. In the case of jam in the second step, FF2, and FF1 are both reset to stop both of motors M4, M1.
