Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an oscillatory pressure gauge which can be applied to fluids of any densities and which can be used at any temperature, by employing a cylindrical oscillator, and determining the difference between a pressure inside the cylinder and a pressure outside the cylinder on the basis of natural frequency of a plurality of axial oscillation modes.
CONSTITUTION: Four blind holes 11W14 are provided in a thick flange portion 10 of an closed-end cylindrical oscillator 1. Driving piezoelectric elements 21, 22 are set on bottom surfaces of the blind holes 11, 12 and detecting piezoelectric element 23W15 are set on bottom surfaces of the blind holes 13, 14 and a front end surface of the oscillator 1. The oscillator 1 has primary and secondary axial oscillation modes. A frequency ratio (r) of natural oscillations of these oscillation modes is as shown in the formula I, i.e. it corresponds to a difference Δp between pressures P1 and P2 inside and outside of the cylinder respectively. For example, a difference between and sum of signals e1, e2 from the piezoelectric elements 25, 23 are amplified in amplifiers 5, 6, respectively, and a frequency ratio (r) of outputs e1(ωi), e2(ωj) is arithmetically operated to obtain an output eO corresponding to the difference Δp between pressures applied to the oscillator.
