Abstract

PURPOSE:To repair the breakage of the tube at a position near a connecting part between a tube plate and the heat transmitting fine tube for the heat exchanger surely in a short period of time by a method wherein a cylindrical sleeve formed with annular protuberances is inserted into the fine tube to expand it. CONSTITUTION:The annular protuberances or rings 6a-6f are formed on the outer surface of the cylinrical sleeve 5 having a length enough to cover the erosion 4 of the heat transmitting fine tube 2 inserted into the hole of the tube plate 1. The location of the rings 6c, 6d is determined so as to pinch the erosion 4 when the sleeve 5 is inserted into the fine tube 2. The sleeve 5 is inserted into the fine tube 2, is held within it, is expanded so as to bite the rings 6a-6f into the fine tube 2, thereby securing the sleeve 5 to the fine tube 2.
