Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the pattern distortion and the linearity by making the slit in the slit face of a tubular electrode at the target side in three tubular electrodes constituting a fan-like box type electron lens to be concave or convex. CONSTITUTION:Three tubular electrodes 12, 13, 14 are assembled to constitute a fan-like box type electron lens 9 splitted into three. The upper and lower faces of an intermediate tubular electrode 13 are bent in convex toward cathode and target side while the left and right faces are bent in concave. The faces contacting with an intermediate electrode 13 of tubular electrodes 12, 14 at the front and back are made to such shape as corresponding with them. A slit face 28 is provided at the target side of the tubular electrode 14 and their slits 29, 30 are formed into concave or convex. Consequently the pin-cushion or barrel tendency of the pattern are corrected to improve the pattern distorsion and the linearity.
