Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled fluorescent substance with high brightness and emission efficiency, and little reduction in brightness during baking, which is obtd. by substituting part of boron in trivalent gadolinium borate activated with europiume, with Al.
CONSTITUTION: Specified amounts of raw materials such as gadolinium oxide, boron oxide, europium oxide and aluminum oxide are mixed and crushed by means of a ball mill etc., and then calcined in air at about 1,000W4,000°C for 1W5hr. The sintered material obtd. is sieved to obtain the purpose red-luminescent fluorescent substance of the formula (wherein 0.05W≤x≤0.3, 0<y≤0.05). When applied for a fluorescent lamp, the fluorescent substance obtd. shows largely increased brightness and emission efficiency by irradiation of 254nm UV.
