Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform a uniform and continuous scraping operation on the entire area and to eliminate the need for a radial scum box by providing plural blades to a scraper rotating around its own axis while said axis revolves also around the center of a vessel.
CONSTITUTION: In a circular floating separation vessel 1, plural number of spirally shaped scraper blades 27 are symmetrically arranged around the axis of the scraper which rotates around its own axis and is arranged radially and allowed to revolve around the center of the vessel 1, so that plural times scraping operations are performed by one rotation. The axis of rotation is so tilted as it becomes horizontal when the front edge 42 of the scraper blades comes to the lowest position. The spiral part of the scraper blade 27 expands as it goes away from the center of the vessel. The entire external shape of the scraper forms a circular truncated cone. Scraped scum is collected to the central area of the scraper, flows down, and is separated as high-concentration scum from the scum box 23 through discharge pipe 24.
