Abstract
PURPOSE: Titled resin particles that contain thermoplastic resin particles, which have been prepared by impregnating polyethylene particles with a crosslinking agent and a specific monomer subsequently polymerizing the monomer, and a foaming agent, thus giving foamed products with uniform foams and high foaming degree and excellent physical properties by processing under mild conditions.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Polyethylene particles, (B) polyethylene crosslinking agent, (C) styrene monomer, (D) polymerization initiator, and (E) 0.5W10pts.wt., per 100pts. of components A and C, of monomer which is compatible with polyethylene and polystyrene and gives a polymer of lower than 40°C glass transition point, preferably 2W12C alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, are dispersed in an aqueous medium to impregnate component A with other components and the crosslinking polymerization is effected to give thermoplastic resin particles of 30W90wt% crosslinking degree. Then, a foaming agent, which is a gas under normal conditions, is pressed into the particles. The crosslinking degree means the insoluble part after a polymer is dipped in boiling xylene for 10hr.
