Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled coating material, suitable for use in electric appliances, having improved heat and moisture resistance, and comprising an unsaturated polyester resin and an epoxy resin containing no hardener.
CONSTITUTION: A coating material comprising (A) an unsaturated polyester resin and (B) an epoxy resin, e.g. bisphenol A type epoxy resin, containing no hardener in an amount of preferably 5W40wt% based on (A). In practice, an unsaturated polyester obtained by reacting maleic anhydride and isophthalic acid with propylene and diethylene glycols is mixed with styrene monomer to give an unsaturated polyester resin. 95pts.wt. the resulting resin (A) is then mixed with 5pts.wt. an epoxy resin, 8pts.wt. dicumyl peroxide, 10pts.wt. talc, 10pts.wt. titanium oxide and 133pts.wt. acetone to afford the objective coating material.
