Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A cyclohexanol derivative expressed by formula I.
USE: An aromatic component of very high lasting quality like a muguet useful as a component of a perfume composition used in soap, detergent, shampoo, hair rinse, various cosmetics, eau de Cologne, etc.
PROCESS: A phenol expressed by formula 2 (R is H, OH or lower alkoxyl) is subjected to the addition reaction with dicyclopentadiene expressed by formula 4, preferably in the presence of an acidic catalyst selected from boron trifluoride, a complex thereof and acid clay, to give an adduct expressed by formula 3, which is then hydrogenated in the presence of a hydrogenating catalyst to afford the compound of expressed by formula 1.
