Abstract

PURPOSE: To reclamate used molding sand efficiently with a simple device by forming sand layers of the used molding sand in treating chambers, allowing sand grain groups to be carried in the air flow from the high pressure air flow jet nozzles provided horizontally above the bottom plates of said chambers and removing deposits by the friction between the moving sand grain groups on the surface and the stationary sand grain groups in the inside.

CONSTITUTION: Used sand 3 is sent via a used sand storage tank 2 into a treating chamber 10. High pressure air jet nozzles 5 are juxtaposed above the treating chamber bottom plate, and their jet ports 7, positioned horizontally, blow high pressure air 6. Because of this, the used sand 3 is carried by the high pressure air 6 and hits against the walls of the treating tank 1, thereby forming sand layers 4. Further, the used sand carried by the high pressure air collides against the used sand on the sand layer 4 surfaces and falls into the next treating chamber 10 through a treated sand outlet 8. In this treating chamber, too, it receives the similar treatment and the sand is taken out through the treated sand outlet 13 of the final treating chamber. The sand dust containing impurities is exhausted 12 together with the air blow through the exhaust outlet 11 in the upper part of the treating chamber.
