Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a map-data coding method that sections a map in a checkerboard shape, codes data such as various marks, sea levels, etc., in each section on the map as well as its address, and then stores them in a memory unit.
CONSTITUTION: Respective sections obtained by dividing a map in a checkerboard shape to an area of 1m2 per section are given addresses laterally and longitudinally. A memory unit connected to a data processor and display unit has memory positions of addresses that corresponds to sections on the above-mentioned map and remembers various map data, such as sea levels, map marks, roads and rivers, in respective sections of corresponding addresses through input unit. Thus field map data can be displayed like a normal map through the data processor.
