Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively produce titled foam useful as a soundproof material or a heat-insulating material, by polycondensing, while foaming, a polyisocyanate component with a polyol component, in the presence of a combination of alumina- containing mineral powder and hydrated alumina powder.
CONSTITUTION: (a) Alumina-containing mineral powder such as powder of bauxite, aluminous shale, kyanite, kaolinite or sericite, in an amount of 5-500wt% (calculated as the content of alumina represented by the formula) based on the weight of polyurethane is employd. When lacking in alumina content, (b) hydrated alumina powder such as powder of boehmite, diaspore, gibbsite or bayerite is used in combination. Titled polyurethane foam is obtained by reacting, while foaming, a poly isocyanate component and a polyol component in the presence of the above alumina-containing minerals.
