Abstract

PURPOSE: To render a wear resistant Fe-base sintered material applicable to a high load sliding portion by forming dispersed hardened three phases of Fe carbide, Fe- Mo carbide, Fe-P compound in sintered pearlite matrix.
CONSTITUTION: Mixed powder consisting of 1.0W2.5% C, 4.5W18% Cu, 0.5W2% Sn, 0.2W1.5% P, 2.5W10% Mo and the balance Fe is compacted and sintered. At this time, P and Mo are preferably blended as Fe compounds, and Cu and Sn as an alloy. Thus, Fe-Mo carbide hardened phase, Fe carbide phase, or Fe-P compound phase and Cu-Sn alloy phase are dispersed in the matrix to the desired degree. The resulting sintered member has stable high sliding characteristics and can be applied to a tappet for a car rocker arm, etc.
