Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an atomized iron powder simply and with good recovery rate as well as prevent the mixing of iron powders by lot groups by making up of an atomized iron powder manufacturing apparatus consisting of an atomizing tank and accompanied overflow tank and sediementation tank.
CONSTITUTION: Water from the nozzle 9 is put into the atomizing tank 1, and when reaching a fixed level, the water is overflowed from the sluice 8 into the overflow tank 2 until the water level of the tank 2 reaches a fixed one. Then, molten steel is charged into the upper mouth 6 of the atomizing tank 1 and at the same time high-pressure water is injected from the nozzle 7 to manufacture atomized iron powder. By operating the pumps 4 and 5, a slurry of iron powder and water is put into the sedimentation tank 3 through the tank 3 and the bottom of the overflow tank 2. The capacity of the tank 3 is one enough to receive the whole amount of slurry drawn out of the tanks 1 and 2 by one-time operation. In the sedimentation tank 3, the iron powder is sedimented and supernatant liquid is gradually drawn out of the valves 23 and 24. Then, an iron powder concentration of 60W80wt% of slurry is taken out of the valve 25 and then dehydrated by a dehydrator and dried.
