Abstract

PURPOSE:To partially and efficiently provide a film with heat energy and to obtain a stretched film having an even quality, by a method wherein thermoplastic resin film is heated by a particular infrared heater for longitudinal stretching. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin sheet or film is continuously stretched between preheating rolls PH#3 and PH#4, which rotate at a given low-peripheral speed, and cooling rolls QR#1 and QR#2, which turn at a given high-peripheral speed, as it is heated by means of infrared heaters #1 and #2 located in parallel with said rolls. In this case, an infrared heater #3, whose infrared rays radiation surface 1 is substantially plane, is located so that the surface 1 is in parallel with the running sheet or film surface. It is preferable that the sheet or film is stretched in the direction of a roll tangent line which does not cross a line for connecting together a center of the preheating roll PH#4 and a center of the cooling roll QR#1, and the infrared heater #3 is located at a position where it is surrounded with the rolls and the film.
