Abstract

PURPOSE: To economically and efficiently perform antipollution treatment for harmful components present in the steel making dust by a procedure in which the steel making dust is kneaded with an acid solution containing a soluble sulfide and divalent iron ion, together with an appropriate amount of water as needed.
CONSTITUTION: The steel making dust is kneaded with an acid solution containing a soluble sulfide and Fe2+, together with an appropriate amount of water, and then the mixture is allowed to stand as it is or after being molded into a desired shape, whereupon an antipolluting reaction proceeds rapidly; that is, water-soluble harmful metal components, e.g., hexavalent chromium, cadmium, lead, mercury, etc., are converted into insoluble substances, making the steel making dust harmless.
