Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent read and write errors by cleaning a magnetic head frequently without using a cleaning card by moving the magnetic head back and forth by use of a cam and then by cleaning the magnetic head with a cleaning member fixed to the cam at the back position. CONSTITUTION:The output shaft of driving motor 11 is fitted with cam 12 that has cleaning member 13 fixed. Magnetic head 1 moves up and down by cam 12 that turns through roller 6 pressed by tension sprint 8. In this constitution, as a magnetic medium passed by head 1 at the position where head 1 moves forth to the uppermost position, motor 11 rotates with a signal from the control part and head 1 moves back to the lowermost position and held in readiness. With the magnetic medium supplied, motor 11 rotates again, but since can 12 is equal in radius to the center of rotation, head 1 never moves, so that cleaning part 13 will clean the magnetic head by passing over head 1. With the following signal, head 1 moves forth to the uppermost position. Consequently, the head is frequently cleaned to prevent errors due to dust on the head face.
