Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a welding crack from taking place in a steel even if it is preheated at a low temperature, by composing the steel of prescribed quantities of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, V, B, Al and N and the rest of Fe and unavoidable impurities and limiting the Al content and N content of the steel at its quenching temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A steel, which comprises 0.04W0.09% of C, less than 0.55% of Si, 0.6W1.4% of Mn, more than 0.3% but not more than 1% of Cr, more than 0.3% but not more than 0.8% of Mo, less than 0.1% of V, 0.0005W0.002% of B, 0.04W0.1% of Al and 0.002W0.004% of N as indispensable constituents and the rest of Fe and unavoidable impurities and is 0.25 or less Pcm=C+1/30Si+1/20(Mn+ Cu+Cr)+1/60Ni+1/15Mo+1/10V+5B, is quenched and tempered so that the steel is changed into a high-tensile steel as described in the title. The Al content and N content of the steel at its quenching temperature (T°K) are limited as a formula shown. The tensile strength of this alloy steel is as high as 60kg/mm2. No welding crack takes place in the steel even if it is preheated at a service temperature or the like.
