Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure the frequency bands over a wide range in a high accuracy and at the same time realize a compact and light-weight structure for the measuring device, by using two or more sets of phase displacing means and phase discriminating means having different delay times plus the deciding means which compares the outputs of these means in place of the band pass filters.
CONSTITUTION: The measuring device consists of delay lines 12a and 12b functioning as the phase displacing means which gives the phase loss or gain proportional to the frequency, phase discriminators 13a and 13b, and frequency deciding circuit 14 which compares the outputs of the above phase discriminators and then decides the original frequency. The input signal of frequency (f) receives Ta and Tb of different delay times through delay lines 12a and 12b each. The outputs of descriminators 13a and 13b show the same value with every application of the input phase difference of 2π, and thus become the voltage proportional to 2πΔfTa and 2πΔfTb each. And these outputs are compared with each other at circuit 14 to deliver the original frequency. In this way, a high-accruacy measurement is possible for the frequency bands over a wide range, at the same time realizing a compact and light-weight structure of the measuring device.
