Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform the highly efficient work of mirror surface finish at low cost further uniformly for the inner surface of a large cylinder, by applying a combined method of the melting action from electrolysis and the mechanical rubbing action by abrasives. CONSTITUTION:Electrode faces 5, 5' of grinding heads 4, 4' are pressed to the inner surface of a cylinder body 1 and applied with an electrolytic voltage. If a mount 3 is allowed to make a turning motion at the same time in the direction of an arrow mark A, the inner surface of the cylinder body 1 is processed by a work of electrolytic combined grinding by the action of electrolysis and the rubbing action of grinding belts 10, 10'. While rotary bodies 6, 6' contacted or meshed to a fixed support shaft 2 make a rolling motion around the support shaft 2, and grinding belts 10, 10' pressed by rollers 7, 7' to said rotary bodies 6, 6' are rotated in the direction of an arrow mark B, shifted in a reverse direction to the rubbing direction A and circulated on the electrode faces 5, 5' of the grinding head 4. Further with the turning motion of the mount 3 the support shaft 2 is forwarded at a certain speed along the axial core, and the grinding heads 4, 4' are advanced axially at a certain speed while being rotated on the inner surface of the cylinder body 1, thus to uniformly grind the inner surface of the cylinder body 1.
