Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a high-silicon two-phase steel having high toughness and high corrosion resistance by specifying the ratio of the total amount of Si plus effective Cr to Ni and the ratio of the total amount of Mn plus Cu to Mo in a high- silicon Ni-Cr stainless steel.
CONSTITUTION: In a stainless steel containing C<0.08%, Si; 3W5%, Mn<3%, Ni; 4W12%, Cr; 12W24%, Mo<2%, Cu<2%, the composition is adjusted so that the ratio of (Si+ΔCr)/Ni is equal to 1.4 (ΔCr is the amount of effective Cr addition, i.e. the Cr content minus 12), and the ratio of (Mn+Cu)/Mo is equal to 2. The steel has a two-phase structure consisting of ferrite phase and austenite phase, and provides excellent toughness and corrosion resistance.
