Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the solubility of the titled compound in water, ethyl alcohol or their mixture, by dissolving shellac resin in the above solvent.
CONSTITUTION: The solubility of thiabendazole in water, ethyl alcohol or their mixture can be increased by several to several tens times, by dissolving 5W50wt%, pref. 10W30wt% of shellac resin in the solvent. The process expands the applications of thiabendazole known as a high safety mildewproofing agent, and facilitates the use of the compound. Since shellac resin forms a film on the surface of orange fruits and prevents the moisture absorption and drying of the fruits, the thiabendazole solution prepared by the present process is useful as a mildewproofing, freshness-keeping coating agent for fruits.
