Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the feeding time in supply by a method wherein a rod material is supported without stoppage of the rotation of a main shaft by using a rod-material feeding device provided in the rear of the main shaft and is fed in the working area.
CONSTITUTION: A rod material 34 to be worked from the rear of the hollow main shaft 2 of a machine tool 1 is inserted in the main shaft 2, pushed out by the push- out rod 18 of a rod-material feeding device 14, and supplied in the working area through the intermediary of a rod-material supporting device 21. The device 14 is operated by a weight 17 method. A chuck 4 positioned at the end of the main shaft 2 is operated by an operating member 5 controlled mechanically or through the intermediary of the fluid pressure, and in the courss of working of the rod material the rod material is held by the chuck 4. When the chuck 4 is released, the rod material is pushed out by the device 14, while the main shaft 2 being rotated.
