Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the contaminant from depositing on the surface of membrane in the cleaner for a permeable membrane unit, in a simple operation, by a method wherein the sending force of raw water is used to project soft bodies such as sponge balls so that they contact the membrane surface for cleaning.
CONSTITUTION: In a soft body supply/recovery device, the raw water inlet pipe 1 is deviced into two pipe channels 5, 5', so that soft bodies H1 through H3 and H1' through H3' can be simultaneously supplied to membrane modules M and M' via channels 2, 2'. The soft body H from the membrane module M or the membrane module M' can be sent by concentrated liquid via pipes 3, 3' and recovered into pipes 6, 6' in the soft body supply/recovery device. It is also allowed only concentrated liquid is supplied to pipe 4 via strainers G, G'. The soft body supply/ recovery device is rotated at porper time by shaft F to allow the soft body H contained in the pipe channel to be supplied and recovered.
