Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a reverse osmosis membrane of an asymmetric and porous structure having reparability and strength, by a method wherein a membrane formed from a stock solution containing acrylonitrile-based polymer is treated to remove solvent, heat-treated, and then plasma-treated.
CONSTITUTION: A membrane stock solution of acrylonitrile-based polymer in formamide-contg. dimethyl-formamide is formed into a membrane having a desired shape by temperature control, and then is treated under specific solvent removal conditions. The obtained solidified membrane is heat-treated at 50W120°C and then plasma-treated. This provides an acrylonitrile-based reverse osmosis permeable membrane having a porous and asymmetric structure and excellent water permeation rate, salt excluding capability, and strength.
