Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the purity of treated liquid and the efficiency of regeneration as well as reduce the amount of regenerating chemicals used by regenerating an ion exchange resin by ascending flow while temporarily discontinuing the supply of a regenerating chemical.
CONSTITUTION: In regenerating an ion exchange resin by ascending flow method in an ion exchange resin-packed tower having a collector at its midway, a temporarily interrupting operation of ascending flow is made one or plural times during the supply of a regenerating chemical, whereby an impact is imposed on the ion exchange resin being shrunk during the regeneration and the ion exchange resin is fallen down to form a compacted ion exchange resin layer. In this way, the purity of treated liquid and the efficiency of regeneration are raised and the conservation of regenerating chemical is attained in the regenerating treatment of ion exchange resin.
