Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an efficient grinding by a method wherein a grinding block is arranged at one side of a ground table to which a workpiece is rotatably fixed, a grinding means on the grinding block is profile ground under a control device having a replacable grinding means on the grinding block.
CONSTITUTION: Glass workpiece A is mounted between a drive shaft 5 of a grinding block 2 and a driven shaft 8, a model means B having a grinding shape is mounted on the drive shaft 5, the workpiece A is rotated at a low speed, and the grinding means 12 is rotated at a high speed. Then, a clutch for the grinding means 12 is engaged, both vertical and horizontal control cams 22, 23 for the control device 16 perform a low speed rotation via control gear reducer, a rotary grinding means 12 is approached to the workpiece A while both cams 22 and 23 perform one rotation, the workpiece A is ground in compliance with the model means B and again moved away from the workpiece A. In this way, an automatic application of both a profiling movement and a retracting movement of the grinding means with respect to the workpiece may decrease a work of an operator and improve an efficiency of the operation.
