Abstract

PURPOSE:To control cooling at a constant temperature in correspondence with engine load by a method wherein the rotation of an electric fan is controlled through the detection of the pressure of the coolant to control the cooling capacity due to the evaporation of the coolant, in an engine of the evaporative cooling type. CONSTITUTION:The coolant evaporated in a closed space of cooling system 10 located around a capillary tube structure 3 is introduced into a radiator 4 through a vapor passage 11, cooled to condensate by an electric fan 5, fed into a coolant tank 6, driven by a pump 7 to flow through a passage 12, and sprayed from a nozzle 1 to the capillary tube structure 3 as shown at A. In this case, a pressure sensor 14 detects the pressure in the space of cooling system 10, and the driving of the electric fan 5 is controlled by a control signal which is fed from a controller 15 based on the pressure signal, thereby controlling the liquefying capability. Simultaneously, a bypass control valve 8 is operated to control the amount of the coolant supplied.
