Abstract

PURPOSE: To smoothly transfer a cargo truck between rails of both kinds, by supporting main rails on the elevation base of a stacker crane so that the main rails can be moved horizontally and aligned to other rails on a storage shelf.
CONSTITUTION: Rails 6 for carrying a cargo truck 3 are provided on a truck 11 which is so supported on the elevation base 2 of a stacker crane that the truck can be moved rightward and leftward. The cargo truck 3 is transferred onto opposed rails 10 provided on a tridimensional storage shelf. Guides 4 are provided on both the sides of the front and rear ends of the truck 3. When the main rails 6 deviate from the opposed rails 10 due to the low-accuracy stoppage of motion of the stacker crane, the guides 4 are brought into contact with the tip of the opposed rails 10 by the forward movement of the cargo truck 3 and the truck moves sidewards automatically due to the reaction of the guides so that the main rails 6 are automatically aligned to the opposed rails 10.
