Abstract
PURPOSE: To promote atomization of fuel in an engine of the type designed to be coolded through vaporization of cooling medium, by heating the intake air by circulating a portion of the cooling medium to the intake system.
CONSTITUTION: A wick 3 made of glass fiber of the like having an ability of evaporting cooling medium is applied over the outer surface of cylinder wall 1 for cooling a cylinder 1 by forcibly circulating a cooling medium into a space defined by the wick 3 and cylinder head 2 by means of a pump 8. Vapor of the cooling medium is re-liquefied by a radiator 4 and a portion of the cooling medium is circulated via a pipe 11 to an intake riser 12 disposed under intake pipe 13 for pre-heating mix ture in intake pipe 13 by the vaporized cooling medium.
