Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a lens which minimizes distortion aberrations and is convenient for daily use by having a far sight correcting portion in the upper area of the lens and a near sight correcting portion in the lower area and providing the intermediate region thereof while changing the curvature with a noncircular curve.
CONSTITUTION: A far vision part F, an intermediate part P and a near vision part N are provided and the boundaries of these are connected continuously. The portions from the far vision part F up to the near vision part are made umbilical over the entire line so as to minimize astigmatism along the main meridian M-M'. Namely, the radii of curvature in the main radius of curvature direction are equal points and are spherical when viewed microscopically. Below the far vision part F, the line of intersection that the plane normal to the main meridian M-M' and the lens refractive surface assume is the noncircular curve of which the value of the radius of curvature decreases as it goes further from the point of intersection with the main meridian. Above the near vision part N, it is such a noncircular curve of which the value of the radius of curvature increases first then decreases as it goes further from the point of intersection with the main meridian.
