Abstract
PURPOSE:To extend the life time of a nozzle described in the titled, by forming a nozzle body made of alumina-graphite refractory material and a layer of refractory material of specific composition, which is arranged at the part where the nozzle is in contact with the layer of molten mold powder, in one piece. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle body 13 made of alumina-graphite refractory material and a layer 20, which is made of zirconia-graphite refractory material composed of 7-27wt% C, 70-90wt% ZrO2, <=3wt% inevitable impurities and which is arranged at the part where the nozzle is in contact with a layer 19 of molten mold powder on the surface of molten steel 18 when the nozzle body 13 is immersed into the molten steel 18 contained in the casting mold 17, are formed in one piece. The outer surface at both upper and lower ends of the refractory material layer 20 continues flat to the outer surface of the nozzle body 13 along the axial direction of the body 13, thereby forming the immersing nozzle for continuous casting which is capable of casting continuously five ladles of molten steel into the casting mold 17.
