Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a positive transportation and loading of a workpiece with a single actuator by a method wherein the workpiece is approached to a supporting device under an elongation of the actuater, an indexing is made by a cam mechanism to perform a chucking operation.
CONSTITUTION: When the actuater 5 is retracted to cause a workpiece feeding device 11 to be positioned at a chute 4, the wokpiece is automatically fed and held by the chucks 29, 29 arranged at the leading ends of the spool 22 of the feeding device 11. Then, the feeding device 11 is approached to the workpiece supporting device 3 of the working device under an elongation of the actuater 5 and further when the feeding device is come to substantially an indexed position or a coaxial position, the guide pin 27 performs an indexing operation for the supporting device 3 under an action of the cam mechanism 36. Thereafter, the holding force of the grip chucks 29, 29 is released, resulting in pushing the workpiece by an upward movement of the spool 22 and the workpiece is held by a collet chuck 2 of the supporting device 3.
