Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a belt having smooth surface and excellent in the transmission efficiency, the thickness of which being easily made constant, by making a radially extended surface of an endless belt to act as a contact surface with a pulley.
CONSTITUTION: An endless belt 1 is formed such that a radially extended surface 11 becomes a contact surface with a pulley 2, the difference between radii r1, r2 of outer and inner edges 12, 12, respectively, of the contact surface 11 which will be in contact with the pulley 2 corresponding to a width B of the contact surface 11, and the contact surface 11 is made plane when not used. When the endless belt 1 is put on the pulley, the belt 1 is twisted at an angle of 90° in the direction C as shown and is extended to be put on the pulley. This will produce a difference of extention in the belt 1 between the outer and inner edges 12, 12, but as the belt is mounted in an elongated condition, the deviated running or winding of the belt 1 during its working can be obviated. Accordingly, the belt 1 is formed such that a cylinder having a wall thickness B equal to the distance of the width B of the contact surface 11 is made of a resilient material, and is cut into rings having a thickness equal to the wall thickness of the belt 1.
