Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent steel tubes from producing welding defects by forming a coating film through coating the surface of steel tubes with a liquid covering material which is mixed with a low melting point metal powder and a wetness aid agent and then heating at a high temperature.
CONSTITUTION: After a nonsurface-treated steel band is roll worked to form a tublar shape, tublar edges are bonded with each other by resistance welding etc. to form material tube. A liquid covering material is coated for which the powder of metal of relatively low melting temperature, such as copper or tin, is added with ethylcellulose etc. When the material tube is heated at a temperature higher than the melting point of the liquid covering material, a steel tube is obtained which has a coat of metal, such as copper or tin, on the surface. This enables to prevent welded tube edges from defective portions where welding is not performed due to absence of copper grains adhering.
