Abstract

PURPOSE: To feed a paper smoothly without crumpling or jamming the paper, by making a paper passage from a paper inlet to a front of a pinch roller of a paper feeding apparatus narrower than a paper passage from said front to a paper outlet.
CONSTITUTION: A width of a paper passage from a paper inlet 4042 of a traverse plate 404 to a pinch roller 420 along which a length of printing paper will be fed is kept at a certain width by a platen lever 403 slightly wider than that of the printing paper. The width of the paper passage beyond the pinch roller 420 is not constrained by the platen lever 403, so that transverse movement of the printing paper PP is not ristricted. By making the paper passage from the front of the pinch roller to the paper outlet wider than the paper passage from the paper inlet 4042 to the pinch roller front, the printing paper PP can move more freely because of α<β as shown, and therefore the printing paper PP will not be folded by side walls A of the paper passage so that jamming of the paper may hardly occur.
