CONSTITUTION:A vapor deposited layer of an Ag-Al alloy consisting of 70.5- 94wt% Ag and 29.5-6% Al is formed on a substrate such as a polyester resin film usually in about 30-100mum thickness. The layer assumes silver luster not inferior to that of a vapor deposited layer of pure silver in depth and softness, and it has superior sulfurization resistance and does not turn yellow. So, the silver luster is maintained over a long term. This method is also applied to the manufacture of gold and silver thread and ornaments.
