Abstract
PURPOSE:To clean the interior of a furnace in a short time, by a method wherein high-pressure water is jetted onto the calcined deposited materials deposited on the interior of the furnace and accessories thereof to cause locally a minor explosion of steam and to cause thermal shock due to the abrupt contraction of the surfaces of the deposited materials. CONSTITUTION:High-pressure water under pressure of not lower than about 500kg/ cm<2> is jetted onto calcined deposited materials such as high-temperature carbon, tar, clinker and the like which are deposited on the inner wall of a furnace, the lid of the furnace, a passage for gas, etc. in order to cause locally a minor explosion of steam and the abrupt contraction of the surfaces of the deposited materials in the contact area between the high-pressure water and the surfaces of the deposited materials and at the same time to give frictional force between the porous surfaces of the deposited materials, whereby the deposited materials are broken into fragments and peeled off to clean parts which are subjected to the process.
