Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove continuously solids on a filter cloth by means of a cylindrical brush by a method in which the most part of a drum filter is soaked in water and turned, while incoming polluted water is injected onto the portion exposed to the air of the drum filter being turned.
CONSTITUTION: In a filtering layer 1, the drum 11 is provided in such a way that it is partly exposed above the overflowing water level, and a polluted water inlet pipe 14 is horizontally provided in the upper space of the drum 11. From a number of the nozzles 15 provided to the pipe 14, the polluted water is injected against the portion exposed to the air of the drum 11 being turned, during which the polluted water is passed through the filter cloth 12 wound around the drum 11 for filtration. The flocs and pollutants adhered to the filter cloth 12 are removed by the water jet from the nozzles 15 and at the same time the cloth 12 is cleaned continuously by the cylindrical brush 18 turning in contact with the filter cloth 12.
