Abstract
PURPOSE: To attain a high phosphoric acid yield with unpulverized phosphate ore and reduce the coat of equipment by reacting an excess sulfuric acid soln. contg. calcium ions and unpulverized phosphate ore to control the crystallization of calcium phosphate in gypsum.
CONSTITUTION: In the 1st process unpulverized phosphate ore is almost thoroughly dissolved in an acid soln. and a slurry recycled from the 4th process to generate Ga2+ ions. In the 2nd process the whole quantity of sulfuric acid required for this manufacturing process is supplied, and gypsum is formed in the presence of excess sulfuric acid to prevent the simultaneous crystallization of calcium phosphate and calcium sulfate. In the 3d process excess sulfuric acid in the liq. reaction product of the 2nd process is removed with Ca2+ ions in the soln. from the 1st process to form gypsum, preparing a slurry of about 1W2% excess sulfuric acid concn. In the 4th process part of the slurry is recycled to the 1st process, and the remainder is separated into phosphoric acid and gypsum by filtration. The washing filtrate of the gypsum is recycled to the 1st process as the acid soln. optionally after adjusting by adding part of the product phosphoric acid.
