Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high dust collecting efficiency, by providing the mechanism detecting the dust concentration in exhaust gas, controlling the temperature of collecting electrodes, and keeping the electric resistance value of dust in a given range.
CONSTITUTION: The electric resistance value of dust is kept around 104W1011Ω/ cm. The combustion exhaust gas is introduced into the electric precipitator 3 from the inlet smoke duct 1 for purification and exhausted from the outlet smoke duct 2. The concentration of dust in the exhaust gas of the outlet smoke duct 2 is monitored at the continuous dust concentration monitor 6, and the signal indicating the dust concentration is fed to the dust concentration comparator 7. It is compared with the set concentration, and the signal corresponding to the difference is fed to the heater 9. The heating circulation current in reponse to the signal is fed to the electrodes of the electrostatic precipitator 3. The dust collection electrodes 8 have heated electrode plates and are heated with the heating power supply 9. Thus, the temperature on the dust adhering surface of the electrodes 8 can arbitrarily be controlled and electric resistance value is taken to a given range to obtain high dust collecting efficiency. Further, the discharge current detector can be used in place of the dust concentration detector.
